What matters when choosing a water filter
- Contaminant claims — look for NSF/ANSI certifications for what is in YOUR water (lead, chlorine, PFAS) — not generic "clean water" copy.
- Stages and type — carbon blocks handle taste/chlorine; RO systems handle dissolved solids.
- Filter life and cost — 6-12 month cartridges vary 3x in price per year — do the yearly math.
- Install weight — under-sink with a dedicated faucet vs countertop that plugs into the existing tap.
How this listing scores on those points: XWFE (Built-in CHIP) Refrigerator Water Filter Pack of 1.

The gripes (from the same reviews)
★★★★☆ 4/5Fits well"This works well with the GE side-by-side refrigerator. However, I am not sure if it is really needed if you have good water. I do have a bypass plug, that I may try the next time. This does come with a set of stickers so you know which month you need to replace the filter.Read moreRead less"
Public Amazon review · Verified Purchase · September 4, 2026We surface the strongest criticism we can find for every product — if the worst thing buyers say is this mild, that is itself a signal.
Where it sits in the lineup
Within the Glacier Fresh water-filter family, this is the top of the range at $35.99. Siblings for comparison: at $33.99. Same construction across sizes — the price moves with the footprint, so the real decision is your bed size, not the model.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need reverse osmosis?
Only if your water has dissolved solids, heavy metals or fluoride you want removed — a certified carbon block covers chlorine, taste and lead for most municipal water.
How often are filters changed?
Typical: every 6 months for carbon, 12-24 months for RO membranes — the exact schedule is printed on each cartridge.
Are the ratings on this page real?
